SAN CAPISTRANO, CA — San Juan Capistrano Police Services issued a public safety message Friday to calm fears about looting in evacuated areas, saying no incidents have been reported and deputies are maintaining a strong law enforcement presence, according to police.

Deputies are conducting 24-hour patrols in and around evacuation zones and taking proactive steps to deter crime, police said. The effort is aimed at preventing any break-ins and giving evacuees peace of mind while they are away from home.

Safeguarding the community remains a top priority, police said, adding that officers will continue to protect homes and property until evacuation orders are lifted. Residents who see suspicious activity are urged to contact law enforcement.
