San Juan Capistrano Man Arrested On Sexual Assault Charges

An Orange County man is being held in lieu of $4 million bail following his arrest Friday.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — A San Juan Capistrano man under investigation by the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station for alleged sexual assault against a child was arrested Friday, authorities announced.

Javier Loma Moreno, 31, was taken into custody by Lake Elsinore sheriff's deputies at approximately 10 a.m. in Orange County.

Jail records show he was booked on suspicion of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 and sexual penetration of a child between the age of 10 and 14. The alleged acts occurred at a residence in the 700 block of Quail Drive, near Nashland Avenue, in December 2017 and January 2018, Sgt. Jeff Reese told City News Service.

Investigators did not say whether more than one child was involved and what Moreno's relationship, if any, to the alleged victim(s) is.

Moreno is being held at Murrieta's Cois Byrd Detention Center in lieu of $4 million bail and is due to appear in court Tuesday, according to the jail records.

The investigation began last month, according to the sheriff's station.
