San Juan Capistrano Picks New Chief Of Police
The city's newest chief of police, Justin Montano, has been with the Orange County Sheriff's Department since 1998.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — San Juan Capistrano officials have chosen Captain Justin Montano to serve as the city's chief of police services.
Montano will step in on March 11 for the current chief, Captain Carl Bulanek, who is retiring.
Montano joined the Orange County Sheriff's Department in 1998. Since then, he has worked in custody operations, patrol and criminal investigations. He has also served an investigator with the family protection detail and the homicide detail.

"I am honored to serve as the next chief of police services and am grateful for the opportunity," Montano said. "I look forward to working with an outstanding team dedicated to keeping San Juan Capistrano a safe community."
Montano has a bachelor's degree in Criminology, Law and Society from the University of California, Irvine and a master's degree in Emergency Management Administration from Cal State University, Long Beach.

Aliso Viejo will also be getting a new captain, according to the county department.
Captain Scott Merrill will also begin serving Aliso Viejo on March 11 after the retirement of Captain Chad Kajfasz.
