San Juan Flood Repairs Top $440,000
The federal government may reimburse the city for 75 percent of the costs.

The cost to clean up and repair damage caused by in San Juan Capistrano will total at least $448,217, a public works report recently filed with the City Council shows.
A majority of of the costs—$362,684—are dedicated to bringing the back to its normal condition. The Olympic ring, roads, parking lot and a grass field are listed among the storm's casualties.
The city is submitting applications to the Federal Management Emergency Agency to recover some of the costs. According to the report, any repairs deemed eligible by FEMA for reimbursement under Jan. 26, will receive 75 percent in federal funding.

Of the 67 items listed in the report, in addition to the repairs at the riding park, costs for 22 have yet to be estimated.

- $7,000 to clear debris and mud from Camino Las Ramblas and $5,000 to remove mud and debris off of Camino La Ronda.

- $11,000 to pick up a large tree that had fallen on a table, and replace the table, at .
- $3,632 to trench and install a backflow water line on Stonehill Drive at the Lower Rosan propery, where flooding had cut off water to the area.
- $4,979 to trench and replace a broken water main at Stonehill Drive at the nursery.
