San Juan's Marine at Belleau Wood

Back in the day in old San Juan Capistrano, my grandmother, Daisy Yorba, was close friends with local boys, Hobart Purdy and Don Trapp.Β  When the country entered World War I, both Hobart and Don joined the USMC and were sent to Fort Bliss, Texas for training.

Hobart Purdy was stationed in Cuba, but his friend Don Trapp was in the thick and deadly fighting at Belleau Wood and was killed in action there on June 12, 1918.
