School District Names 3 New Principals

The Capistrano Unified School District Board of Trustees named three new principals at the board meeting Wednesday night:

• William Mocnik, Principal at Tesoro High School
• Jennifer Garett-Smalley, Principal at San JuanHills High School
• Chad Smith, Principal at Capistrano Valley High School

“These three administrators have demonstrated the vision, experience, intelligent andreflective leadership, and commitment to excellence that will serve our high schools, ourstudents, and CUSD well,” said Superintendent Kirsten Vital. “They will contribute to thecontinuous improvement of our District by ensuring that our high school students are challengedacademically, provided with opportunities and resources for success, and are well-prepared forpost-secondary academic, military and professional careers. I am pleased to have them on ourteam.”

The district also made changes in central administration:

• Jodee Brentlinger, Assistant Superintendent ofAdministrative Services/Community Relations
• Leona Olson, Assistant Superintendent of Personnel Services
• Tim Brooks, Executive Director of Personnel Services/Investigations
