SoCal Gas Helicopter Activity Coming To San Juan Capistrano
In an effort to map methane emissions in Southern California, SoCalGas will be flying helicopters over the San Juan Capistrano area Feb. 21.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — If you hear helicopter activity over San Juan Capistrano after Feb. 21, fear not. SoCalGas is working with a helicopter company to map methane emissions over SoCalGas infrastructure, the City of San Juan Capistrano announced in a weekly report.
The helicopter activity is slotted to start the week of Feb. 21, and residents may hear the sound of helicopters between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
This method of tracking methane emissions is a part of a new technology that allows SoCalGas to detect methane emissions from more than 500 feet in the air.
