Stolen Tools Returned To San Juan Capistrano Construction Crew
South County workers received a gift from the Orange County Sheriff's Department this week after tools of their trade were looted.
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA —Construction crew members in south Orange County received an early Christmas gift this week after Orange County Sheriff's Department officers located their stolen high-end tools.
Earlier in the week, a handful of DeWalt tools were taken from the construction site where this crew was working, OCSD reported over social media. Orange County Sheriff's Department officers in the San Juan division were brought in for the investigation. Luckily for the workers and deputies, there was surveillance footage of the theft as it happened.
San Juan Investigators reviewed surveillance footage and was able to put out a bulletin for officers to "be on the lookout for the suspect and his vehicle," they reported over Facebook post.

It was "vigilant Dana Point Police Services deputies" who spotted the vehicle on Tuesday, they said. Officers stopped the suspect, and inside, found "a large portion of the stolen tools."
San Juan Investigators, assisted by Dana Point Investigators were able to get a full confession from the suspect, who was arrested for commercial burglary and possession of stolen property.

On Wednesday, investigators were able to guarantee these tools matched the stolen ones, and reunite the workers with the recovered tools.
