Suspect in Bank Robbery Leads Police on High Speed Chase
Police arrested a man suspected of robbing a bank in Lake Forest Monday and leading police on a chase up the 5 Freeway.

A man suspected of committing a Lake Forest bank robbery today was taken into custody following a pursuit, a sheriff’s lieutenant said.
The suspect, who is in his 50s, is accused of robbed the Eagle Community Credit Union about 10:45 a.m. at 23021 Lake Center Drive.
A witness saw the getaway car the suspect got into and gave a description to deputies, who caught up with the man a short time later, according to Orange County sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Hallock.

The suspect led deputies on a chase on the northbound Santa Ana (5) Freeway, exiting at Red Hill Avenue in Tustin, where he continued to evade authorities on side streets until he finally stopped and surrendered, Hallock said.
The suspect had a gun on him during the robbery, but it was not immediately clear if he used it to threaten a teller, Hallock said.

The alleged bandit’s name was not immediately released.
