The Oldest Trophy in all Sports Visits Dana Point Harbor

July 19 – The β€œOldest Trophy in All Sports” …The America’s Cup, makes an unprecedented return visit to Dana Point Yacht Club!

Dana Point Yacht Club'sΒ America’s Cup Event Committee has been working feverishly in association with the Golden Gate Yacht Club, and the America’s Cup Event Authority to bring you a day filled with fun and excitement, not to mention history and tradition.

In addition to having the most coveted sailing trophy in the world at the Club, as promised, we have a very special surprise.Β  The schooner β€œAmerica” will be here in Dana Point for this event!

The yacht is a painstaking replica of the original "America," which in 1851 stunned the world by winning the legendary sailing race around the Isle of Wight and won the trophy that now bears her name, the America’s Cup!

Date – July 19, 2014

Time – 11AM to 5PM

Arrival of the Cup – 11AM

Multimedia Presentation – 1PM

Photos with the Cup – throughout the event

Tour of the schooner β€œAmerica” – 11AM to 3PM

Afternoon Cruise aboard β€œAmerica” – 3:00PM

Sunset Cruise aboard β€œAmerica” – 5:30PM

The presentation at 1PM will be made by the Commodore of Golden Gate Yacht Club, Norbert Bajurin.Β  GGYC is the home club of the America’s Cup Defender, Oracle Team USA.Β  The presentation will include the rich history of the Cup and an update on the upcoming 35th America’s Cup and its related race events.Β  The protocol for the next America’s Cup was just released on June 3 and I’m sure there will be information about the boat to be used, the fully foiling catamaran, AC62.

Tours of the schooner β€œAmerica” will be open from 11AM to 3PM.Β  Shuttle service to the schooner will be running from the Club throughout the day, both land & water taxi.Β  Tour tickets will be $5 for adults, and children under 12 Free.

There will also be two cruises aboard "America".Β  An afternoon cruise at 3PM and a special Sunset Cocktail Cruise aboard β€œAmerica” which includes complimentary cocktails and appetizers.Β  These cruises have a very limited number of only 75 tickets available.Β  If you want to experience this unique opportunity, please purchase your tickets early as this cruise will be sold out by the day of the event.

In addition to all this, there will be streaming America’s Cup videos on multiple screens, Racing Sailboats on display , exhibit hall with Junior Sailing, Race and otherΒ sailing information, andΒ Dana Point Harbor Youth Foundation booths, food, fun and more!

This event is open to the public so invite all your friends, family, neighbors and co-workers for this spectacular event showcasing the America's Cup!

Public parking is available in the harbor and FREE shuttle service with many stops throughout the harbor area, including Mariner’s Village and the Ocean Institute, will be provided to all venues of the event.
