Tie The Knot On Valentine's Day In San Juan Capistrano

Are you looking to say "I do" this Valentine's Day? The Orange County Clerk is offering extended Valentine's Day hours.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — Are you thinking about tying the knot with that special someone in San Juan Capistrano? Did you know that Valentine's Day is less than two weeks away? This Valentine's Day, Orange County Clerk-Recorder Hugh Nguyen is offering extended hours at his offices in Anaheim, Laguna Hills and at the Old County Courthouse in Santa Ana, the department announced Tuesday.

"Valentine's Day is always one of the busiest and happiest days of the year for the department, so we try to make it easier and more convenient for couples, especially for those who must work on this special day," said Clerk-Recorder Hugh Nguyen.

Couples interested in tying the knot on Valentine's Day are encouraged to call ahead and make an appointment with the clerk-recorder's office. Due to COVID-19 protocols, all marriage applications must be completed before couples may enter any of the offices.

If you and your loved one are considering getting married on Valentine's Day, the Orange County Clerk-Recorder's Department asks you to keep the following in mind:

  • Ceremony rooms are currently closed, and all marriage ceremonies will be performed at the service desk or counter where the marriage license is issued.
  • For couples looking to get a marriage license, guests are not allowed.
  • For couples looking to get a public marriage license and have a ceremony performed, only the couple and one witness may be present.
  • Couples are required to present a valid photo ID when attending their appointment.

According to the OC Clerk-Recorder's Department, the department has the lowest costs for a marriage license and a marriage ceremony in the state. In Orange County, a public marriage license can be purchased for $61 and a confidential marriage license for $66. A civil marriage ceremony can be performed for an extra $28.

For more information, residents are encouraged to call the department's information line at 714-834-2500. The department's information line is available Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except holidays.
