Traffic Advisory: Avenida La Pata Road Widening Continues

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — Times, they are changing for drivers of Avenida La Pata, north from San Juan Hills High School toward the Ortega Highway. On Wednesday, Nov. 8 drivers will be transitioned to the newly completed lane sections as part of the ongoing road widening improvements, according to the Orange County La Pata Extension project of Orange County Public Works.

Drivers will experience two southbound lanes, shifted slightly to allow for continued road work in the area.

There will be one northbound lane until future widening improvements are completed.

The transitions will begin Wednesday, Nov. 8 on Avenida La Pata from Stallion Ridge to Gateway Place, just south of the Ortega Highway.

"The speed limit in the project area is 35 miles per hour during construction," they said. During non-construction times, the speed limit in this area is 55 miles per hour.

Completion of the overall widening improvements is expected in April of 2018, they said. That, schedule to change due to weather and other factors.
