Traffic Alert: Ortega Highway Closure Due To Downed Telephone Pole

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — The curving roadway that separates Lake Elsinore from San Juan Capistrano was closed Tuesday after a collision between a car and telephone pole, officials said.

At approximately 2 p.m. Tuesday, the artery that connects Interstate 5 and the Inland Empire was closed just west of Antonio Parkway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Authorities were awaiting an AT&T crew to clear the pole and Ortega Highway, also known as state Route 74, was expected to remain closed between Reata Road and Shadetree Lane until around 10 p.m., if not later, according to Caltrans spokeswoman Lindsey Hart.

No injuries were reported as a result of the crash.
