Truck Slams Semi On I-5 Monday Morning

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — A pickup truck slammed into the rear of a semi on Monday morning early on Interstate 5 in San Juan Capistrano.

Two people were trapped inside the pickup truck after the 3:45 a.m. collision on northbound I-5 at Junipero Serra Road, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.

"Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to free two patients from the pickup truck and they were taken to a nearby hospital by 4:30 a.m.," an OCFA spokesperson said.

There was no word as far as names or ages of the injured parties, or regarding road closures in the area due to the crash.
