Two Neighborhood Sober Living Facilities a No-Go in Dana Point
The City of Dana Point has filed a lawsuit against two sober living homes in Dana Point, stating lack of license, and legality of location.

Dana Point, CAβTwo sober-living houses are under the gun in Dana Point. Lawsuits have been filed by city officials who want the sober-living houses shut down.
According to a report from the Orange County Register, the sober living houses are associated with treatment centers in Capistrano Beach. Opponents of the facilities state they are in violation of state law and the cityβs zoning code.
On Wednesday, June 22, lawsuits were filed in Orange County Superior Court alleging that "sober-living homes are operating as drug abuse recovery and treatment facilities without state licenses," according to the OC Register report.

The home Capo By the Sea, is located at 27036 Azul Drive, and the second location, Sovereign Health Group, is located at 25512 Evans Pointe.

Lawsuits state that the homes provide service to over six people, which goes against the Dana Point zoning codes. Businesses cannot operate in a residential area, according to the Dana Point City Officials.

βWeβre not trying to prohibit or regulate group homes,β said Dana Point City Attorney Patrick Munoz. βWeβre simply acknowledging the law and ensuring operators are following it.β
