Varsity Stallion Boys Fall to Diablos
JV soccer loses by one on the road and the frosh/soph boys pull out a tie at home. Fast responses from Stallion goalies kept it from being so much worse.

Despite some good defense and save after save at the net, the Stallion boys soccer teams fell Friday to their counterparts at Mission Viejo High School in an away game. It was the first time this year the two schools met up. The best the teams could do is pull off a tie in the frosh/soph match.

entered the half down 0-3. They did not get much chance to control the ball and felt the pressure on defense. Fortunately, the boys perked up the second half and found the goal 15 minutes in, preventing the shut out.
For the goal, Jose Rivera split two defenders for the pass to Franklin Campos, who placed the ball in the back of the net.

In the 10 minutes that followed, the Stallion boys had multiple chances but could not find the sweet spot. The Diablos were able to add one more to the score on a penalty kick in minute 25.
The final minutes saw the two teams going back and forth but to no avail. Final score: Mission Viejo 4, San Juan Hills 1, .
JUNIOR VARSITY
With only two players on the bench, the JV boys worked hard and held Mission Viejo scoreless until late in the second half. Mission Viejo won 1-0 at home. Stallion goalkeeper Miguel Rodriguez had an incredible game.
FROSH/SOPH
After some tough play, the Diablos pulled ahead by halftime, 1-0, playing at San Juan Hills. The Stallions did have find a couple of opportunities to score but failed to capitalize. Mission Viejo’s goal was a rocket sent from about 15 yards out. Goalie Tanner Novak, assisted on defense by Noah Kiessling and Chris Martinez, worked hard to keep the bloodshed to a minimum.
In the second half, both teams’ goalies were on fire as their opposers launched ceaseless counterattacks. With five minutes left in the match, San Juan Hills' Joseph Ortiz chipped a pass from 20 yards out to Cole Sundly, who scored. The tie ended the game, and the boys voted Novak MVP.
