SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — A long-awaited community park is coming your way, San Juan Capistrano. The Northwest Open Space Community Park, known as Putuidem Village, is opening to the public this December. To celebrate the village's opening, the City of San Juan Capistrano is holding a grand opening Dec. 3.

The event is open to the public. The ceremony will mark the grand opening of a park unique to San Juan Capistrano. Putuidem Village is one of the few remaining ancestral sites in San Juan Capistrano, and in building the park, the city sought to preserve a sacred gathering place for the descendants of Juaneño and Acjachemen people.

The creation of the park is also intended to educate and inform San Juan Capistrano residents about the traditions and culture of the Acjachemen, the city wrote in a report.
