Woman Dies In Ortega Highway Single-Car Crash

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — The passenger of a car that went over the right side embankment east of the San Juan Creek Bridge died early Sunday morning, officials reported.

The solo crash, involving a white Toyota, occurred just before 1 a.m.

The driver ran off the road for unknown reasons and suffered injuries in the dramatic crash, according to California Highway Patrol.

Emergency responders rushed the driver to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo. His condition was unknown as of this report. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene the CHP said, and the Orange County Coroner was called.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
