WWII Flyover March 19 at Mission San Juan Capistrano's St. Joseph's Day/Return of the Swallows Celebration

Bring the family to historic Mission San Juan Capistrano on Saturday, March 19, 2016 for WWII flyover, swing concert and festivities all day

Mission San Juan Capistrano will host St. Joseph's Day and the Return of the Swallows Celebration on Saturday, March 19, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. This historic tradition, started in the 1920s to celebrate the famed return of the swallows to Capistrano, is carried on each year at the Mission on March 19th.

This year will feature a WWII flyover at noon in tribute to our Nation's veterans, past and present. Flyover will be conducted by The Condor Squadron, organization that flies WWII AT-6 airplanes. Flyover will take place as part of the official Bell Ringing Ceremony to begin at 11:40 a.m. in the Mission's Front Courtyard.

Festivities at St. Joseph's Day also include a WWII era "Swingin' with the Swallows" swing concert featuring the Swing Cats Big Band from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Concert is free with paid admission to the Mission. There is live entertainment and activities all day including: ringing of the historic bells, crafts for kids, presentations on the swallows, guided tours, food vendors and more. Admission is $15 for adults and $6 for children ages 4-11. Mission Preservation Society Members receive free admission.
