2 Auto Burglars Arrested In San Leandro, Police Say

The pair burglarized at least five vehicles, according to police.

SAN LEANDRO, CA — San Leandro Police caught two auto burglars on Tuesday, they reported on Friday. The Oakland men, 20-year-old Caleb Smith and 19-year-old Maurice Griffin, were in possession of a window punch tool used to break glass, and stolen property. Police found five vehicles that had been broken into, they report.

The case began when they received a call at 4:20 a.m. about two suspicious men in the area of 148th and Western avenues.

The Alameda County District Attorney's Office has filed charges against the men in connection with the auto burglaries. They are being held at Santa Rita Jail.
