25-Year-Old San Leandro Man Shot and Killed in East Oakland

A 25-year-old San Leandro man was shot and killed Friday night inside an East Oakland apartment, a police spokeswoman said today.

Police responded at about 9:30 p.m. to a report of a shooting in an apartment in the 2400 block of 106th Avenue and found the victim, whose identity has not been released, suffering from gunshot wounds, Oakland police Officer Holly Joshi said.

The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment but died from his injuries.

No arrests had been made as of Saturday afternoon.

The homicide marks Oakland's 64th of the year, the Oakland Tribune reports, compared to 46 homicides in that city at this time last year.

Friday night's victim is at least the ninth San Leandro man to be violently killed in the East Bay since the beginning of the year. Two of the killings occurred in San Leandro. 

Corey Walker, 28, was shot and killed on July 9 in Richmond. 

Rodnelle Hampton, 19, was shot and killed in East Oakland on June 21.

Darrell Bradford, 26, from unincorporated San Leandro, was shot and killed in Ashland on June 14. 

Eric Bush, 29, was shot and killed at a  on International Boulevard in Oakland on May 29.

Adam Williams, 22 and Bill Jenkins, 27, were killed in a  near Jack London Square in April. 

Paul Meyer, 46, was stabbed to death by a friend at his girlfriend's home in San Leandro on February 25.

Roy Benson, 24, was shot and killed near the Bal Theatre on East 14th Street on January 17.
