3 Alarm Fire Destroys Oakland Businesses

A warehouse provided space for dozens of businesses.

OAKLAND, CA — A 3 alarm warehouse fire in Oakland destroyed several businesses Friday morning, as it sent a large column of smoke into the sky that was visible for miles.

There are no reports of injuries.

The warehouse at East 11th, and between 23rd and 25th avenues, had been converted into artist and other work spaces.

The warehouse is right next to I-880, but smoke blew away from the highway.

The fire spread rapidly, along the fire department's response. Oakland Firefighters reported the fire on social media around 6:30 a.m. Just three minutes later it went to two alarms, and six minutes after that to 3 alarms.
