4 Residents Injured In Alameda Apartment Fire

The fire also displaced 7 residents early Sunday morning.

ALAMEDA, CA — Four residents were injured and 7 displaced by an apartment fire in Alameda on Sunday. Alameda Fire Department called the injuries "non-life threatening."

The fire was reported just after midnight in the 2500 block of Central Avenue. "Arriving crews found fire and smoke showing from a first story apartment, extending to the unit above," the fire department reports.

Firefighters managed to get the fire out in 20 minutes. Just two united were damaged. Both received fire, heat and smoke damage.

The fire was caused by unattended food cooking on top of the stove.

Alameda Red Cross responded to assistthe seven displaced tenants.

Alameda Police, Alameda Municipal Power, Alameda Building Department and PG&E all responded to the scene, while Oakland Fire covered in at vacant Alameda fire stations.
