East Bay Bank Robbery: Suspect Arrested
Grady Arnold was tracked to Oakland where he was arrested just hours after the heist.

SAN LEANDRO, CA —An accused bank robber was arrested by San Leandro Police on Monday. Although he got away with the money, he was arrested within hours because of a crime analysis done by a member of the police department. Grady Arnold is being held at Santa Rita Jail on a $100,000 bail.
The robbery happened at US Bank on East 14th Street just before 10:30 a.m. Police say that Arnold entered the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money. The teller complied, and Arnold got away.
"San Leandro Police Detectives and Crime Analyst Denise Joseph immediately began investigating this robbery," police report. "Using her law enforcement computer databases, Analyst Joseph quickly identified Arnold as a possible suspect and worked in collaboration with detectives to locate him."

Detectives tracked him to Foothill Boulevard in Oakland, where he was arrested without incident.
San Leandro Police Lt. Ted Henderson said, “Crime analysis has become an essential tool in the San Leandro Police Department’s effort to reduce and prevent crime. Crime Analyst Denise Joseph’s vast experience and knowledge in this field, undoubtedly, solved what could have been a lengthy investigation in about two hours.”
