Popular Bay Area Brewery Makes Comeback Under New Ownership: Report

"Nothing about the beer is changing," the new owners told the San Francisco Chronicle.

SAN LEANDRO, CA — A popular Bay Area brewery that shuttered late last year is producing beers once more after being recently purchased, according to a report from the San Francisco Chronicle.

Evil Genius Beer Company, based in Philadelphia, bought 21st Amendment in a seven-figure deal shortly after it shut down, according to the report.

"The packaging is not changing; the ingredients are not changing. Nothing about the beer is changing," Evil Genius owner Luke Bowen told the Chronicle. "We’re leaving everything exactly as it is."

While the 21st Amendment's beers are back to being sold again in the Bay Area, including the popular Hell or High Watermelon, the San Francisco taproom or brewing facility in San Leandro was not part of the deal and will not reopen, according to the report.
