OAKLAND, CA — Two men are dead, and an officer was hospitalized Monday morning following a crash in East Oakland, according to the East Bay Times.
The two men were passengers in a stolen Chevy Tahoe whose driver was speeding in the area of East 12th Street and 29th Avenue around 11:10 a.m. when they crashed into a marked Oakland patrol SUV, according to the report.
The impact ejected the two men from the vehicle, killing them, according to the report. The driver, meanwhile, survived the crash and an officer inside the SUV was taken to a local hospital for treatment, according to the report.
The condition of the driver or the officer was not clear as of Tuesday morning. Police did not say how the suspects wound up in the stolen vehicle or where it was stolen from.
Photos from the scene show a wrecked car flipped on its side and a patrol car with severe front-end damage.
