SAN LEANDRO, CA — A 65-year-old San Leandro man died after suffering a medical emergency while riding a jet ski in Nebraska on Monday, authorities said.
The man was riding a personal watercraft west of Gavins Point Dam on Lewis and Clark Lake around 3:38 p.m. when he got injured, according to the Nebraska Game and Parks. It's unclear what led up to the injury.
Someone called 911 and reported that the man was having difficulty breathing and appeared to need immediate medical assistance, authorities said.
Boaters passing by on a pontoon boat rescued the unresponsive man before a Crofton Fire and Rescue ambulance took him to Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, South Dakota, authorities said.
The man died at the hospital, authorities. His identity was not immediately released.
Nebraska Park and Games is investigating the incident. No further details were immediately available.
