• Ex-Substitute Teacher Who Mailed Racist Threats To San Leandro School Avoids Prison: Report (patch.com) — A former substitute teacher who sent racist, threatening letters to Dayton Elementary School in San Leandro avoided prison and was instead ordered to pay $15,000 to the San Lorenzo Unified School District. Federal prosecutors said he mailed multiple letters in 2023, including one with white powder, but a judge declined to impose even home confinement, citing his age and health issues.
