• San Leandro Man Sexually Abused Teen He Met Playing Phone Games: Report (patch.com) — San Leandro readers are learning that a 28-year-old local man has been sentenced to three years in prison for sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl he met through the online game Mobile Legends. The case, reported by the East Bay Times, includes a no-contest plea to sexual penetration with a foreign object and requires him to register as a sex offender for 20 years and stay away from the victim.
• Watch: Wild Calif. Chase Ends With SWAT Members Surrounding Heavily Damaged Mustang (officer.com) — A reckless driving suspect in a blue Mustang led deputies on a dangerous chase that passed through San Leandro before ending in a SWAT standoff on the freeway. Alameda County deputies used a drone launched from their Real Time Information Center to track the car as it sped the wrong way and crashed. Both occupants were eventually arrested and booked on felony charges.
• Repeat domestic abuser convicted of killing stepdaughter outside San Leandro Chili's (mercurynews.com) — A woman was fatally shot in the head outside the Chili's in San Leandro, and her stepfather has now been convicted of second-degree murder and related gun charges. Prosecutors detailed a years-long pattern of domestic violence across the Bay Area leading up to the 2023 killing. He faces a potential sentence of 40 years to life next month.
