OAKLAND, CA — A 44-year-old man was arrested last month in connection with the violent assault of a food delivery driver in Oakland, police said.
Police did not say where the assault happened. The driver had an order in his car on Sept. 3, when the suspect suddenly started assaulting him and trying to steal it.
The suspect punched the driver several times and tried attacking him with a metal hand truck before leaving the area, the Oakland Police Department said on Tuesday.

Investigators found the suspect's vehicle and linked it to another robbery in a neighboring city, police said.
The suspect was taken into custody in connection with the assault on Sept. 17, police said.
Police did not identify the suspect, but Alameda County prosecutors have since charged him in connection with the attempted robbery and assault.
