SAN LEANDRO, CA — The annual auction for Assumption School in San Leandro has paid for updated classroom technology, a “makers space” for hands-on learning, a new Transitional Kindergarten program, and other important educational aids over the past few years. That success has organizers excited about this year's 31st Annual Auction – the Bootleggers Ball.

The fun gets underway at 5 p.m. on March 7, at the Columbo Club in Oakland, and will feature a "speakeasy" theme. The evening includes a five-course dinner, dancing, a silent and live auction, a 50/50 raffle, and a 52-card draw.

The deadline to purchase early bird tickets is this Friday, Jan. 31. The cost for general admission is $70, with the price dropping to $60 per person for alumni and seniors. All tickets will be $75 from Feb. 1 until Feb 21, when registration closes.

Assumption School alumni parent Brian Copeland will be the event’s emcee, and he can't wait, "This is my twenty-fifth year hosting the Assumption School auction. I haven't had kids in the school since 2009! I keep coming back because Assumption is a special community and this is a very special event."
