'Bold Flavors, Cozy Vibes': San Leandro's First Philz Coffee Now Open
The new site features a mural representing San Leandro's history and landmarks.

SAN LEANDRO, CA — The first Philz Coffee in San Leandro is now officially open.
The opening was met with a short ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday in front of the new location.
"We celebrate the arrival of Philz here in San Leandro," Mayor Juan González III said during the ceremony on Tuesday. "They are a coveted cafe that clearly and consistently demonstrates their commitment to the community."

The new location is 2,474 sq ft and can seat up to 43 customers. It also features a custom mural by local artist Nigel Sussman that celebrates San Leandro's history and landmarks.
The mural, González said, was a "testament to that love, dedication and devotion" Philz shows its communities.

Philz Coffee was founded by Phil Jaber in San Francisco in 2003 and has since extended its reach to the Midwest. The company is currently headquartered in Oakland.
"Known for its handcrafted, one-cup-at-a-time brews, Philz is bringing bold flavors, cozy vibes, and that signature personalized coffee experience to our community," city officials said. "Whether you're fueling your morning, meeting up with friends, or just craving your perfect cup: this is your new go-to spot!"
