Savers Donation Drop Off is 7am-7pm, 7 days/week. Savers is least picky drop off place and provides car unloading assistance. Multiple locations throughout Bay Area.

Goodwills are now open for donation drop-off 7 days/week 10-2pm. Check for local Salvation Army or other local thrift store hours.

Lyft, Uber, Lugg, Task Rabbit are apps that provide donation haul aways.

Ivan at JunkIt (Text: 510-648-7890) has been working with my clients for almost 15 years. He charges by how much you fill up his big hauling truck, professional hauling size, not a pick up truck. You get a discount for 2nd truckload. He takes donations, recycling, trash, landscaping, appliances, mattresses, etc. He cannot take Hazardous Waste.

Hazardous Waste: Each County has a Hazardous Waste Facility with set days/times for in-person drop off.

Batteries, light bulbs: Put in ziplock bag on top of your trash can for regular trash day pick up.

Check PaintCare.org for paint recycling and drop off locations throughout California.

Take e-waste to Target or Best Buy customer service or GoodWill donation center and get a tax write-off receipt for electronic recycling!

The East Bay Depot for Creative ReUse in Oakland takes arts/crafts donations.

Magazines & Greeting Cards: waiting rooms, art classrooms, support group places.

ReCARES in Oakland takes reusable medical supplies Fridays 12-4.

Habitat for Humanity takes home maintenance items, tools, flooring, lighting, left-over landscaping and building supplies, mattresses, furniture, etc.

*************************************************

Put out free items ($50 or less resale value, big/baulky items) on the curb that are reusable/good condition. Take to thrift store what isn't taken after 1-2 days.

Additionally, you can post on OfferUp, Next Door, Facebook Buy Nothing Groups, FB Marketplace to attract local pickups so you don’t pay for hauling and your neighbors benefit directly.

I always put on the free curb alert ads: “FREE! On curb at [address]! No holds. First come, first serve. Not checking messages. Will delete ad when all gone.”
