Candle Likely Cause of Fire that Displaced Woman and Dog in San Leandro

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to one room.

A woman and her dog were displaced by a one-alarm residential structure fire in San Leandro Monday afternoon, according to a fire spokeswoman. Firefighters were notified of a blaze at 13303 Aurora Drive at 4:04 p.m.

They arrived on scene within three minutes, and the fire had been “knocked down” within 15 minutes of arrival, according to Alameda County Fire Department spokeswoman Aisha Knowles. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to one room, and investigators later determined that the incident had been caused by a candle in the dining room area, Knowles said.
