SAN LEANDRO, CA — San Leandro Police got an assist from a tech savvy crime victim who helped them track his stolen iPad. Police arrested 43-year-old transient Andre Lamont Penney and recovered the stolen property. Penney was booked into the Santa Rita Jail on suspicion of burglary, possession of stolen property, and an outstanding parole violation warrant.

Police were contacted last Friday about the car burglary that happened on Sunnyside Drive. The owner of the vehicle and stolen iPad told investigating officers that the i-Pad was tracking to a residence in the 200 block of Beverly Avenue.

Officers went to the home and found it vacant. Out back, they found a shed with Penney inside asleep on a work bench, and he was arrested.
