Cash, Gun, Drugs Seized During CHP DUI Traffic Stop

SAN LEANDRO, CA — The California Highway Patrol arrested a man in San Leandro Saturday and seized an unregistered handgun with a extended magazine, a large quantity of marijuana, bindles of pills, baggies, a scale and over $3,000 in cash.

The person was stopped for speeding on southbound I-880 near Washington Avenue at 1:30 a.m.

According to a CHP report, "Upon contacting the driver, officers detected the strong odor of alcohol and marijuana emitting from within the vehicle and a DUI evaluation was conducted."

The person's name has not been released, but the CHP said the man had "several prior DUIs, drug, and firearms convictions."
