Cops Save Woman's Life By Administering Narcan

SAN LEANDRO, CA — Police officers in San Leandro on Thursday gave life-saving medication to a woman suffering from an apparent opioid overdose.

Officers with the San Leandro Police Department responded Thursday to a report of an unresponsive woman outside the Taco Bell at 15501 Hesperian Blvd. The officers located a 28-year-old woman suffering from an apparent drug overdose.

Police said the woman was having difficulty breathing and displayed signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance.

The officers determined the woman had ingested a dangerous amount of opioids.

The officers administered Narcan, a medication that counteracts the effects of opioids, in an effort to revive the woman. Police said the drug had an immediate impact, and the woman regained consciousness and started breathing normally.

Paramedics arrived on the scene and transported the woman to the hospital for treatment.
