Coroner Identifies San Leandro Man Killed Tuesday

Rodnelle Hampton, 19, from San Leandro was shot and killed in East Oakland on June 21.

The Alameda County Coroner's Bureau has identified the 19-year-old San Leandro man killed on Tuesday night in East Oakland as Rodnelle Hampton. 

Hampton was shot around 5:45 p.m. in the 8200 block of A Street, according to Oakland police. 

Hampton was shot while driving his car. He was able to drive to the 1200 block of 83rd Avenue where he crashed into a house and fence, police told the Oakland Tribune

Hampton is at least the fourth San Leandro resident shot and killed in Oakland in the past three months. Adam Williams, 22 and Bill Jenkins, 27, were killed in a near Jack London Square in April. 

Eric Bush, 29, was killed in a shooting at a  on International Boulevard in Oakland in May.

The Tribune reports that police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of Hampton's killer. Anyone with information about the case may call police at 510 238-3821 or Crime Stoppers at 510 777-8572 or 510 777-3211.
