Davis Street Loan Paid in Full

January 18, 2017 San Leandro, California: Davis Street repays $1,500,000 loan from the City of San Leandro - IN FULL! As of January 18, 2017, the bridge loan made by the City of San Leandro to Davis Street to assist with the expansion of its Medical Clinic has been paid in full.

In 2014, the City loaned $1,500,000 to Davis Street to assist with the launch of its new Primary Care Clinic. The state of the art clinic features 13 exam rooms, 3 dental chairs and behavioral health services - all available to residents of San Leandro and the surrounding communities.

Over the last year Davis Street, CEO Rose Padilla Johnson has been working with the City Council and City Manager Chris Zapata to negotiate an extension of the loan. Recently, a copy of a letter from City Manager Chris Zapata setting forth the City's position in the confidential negotiations was released to the press. The resulting outcry prompted widespread support for Davis Street and allowed Davis Street to secure financing from other sources.

Since the clinic opened its doors in 2014 it has provided Primary Care - Medical, Dental and Behavioral Health Services to 2,901 San Leandro residents and more than 10,236 patient visits to San Leandro residents. In addition to providing services for families and residents in San Leandro the clinic provides care for patients from Alameda County.

The loan was used to support the startup operations of the Primary Care Clinic located at 3081 Teagarden Street, when it secured the FQHC designation, moving from a free clinic that was only able to provide services to 16 patients a week through the support of RotaCare Bay Area and its volunteer physicians to the state of the art 11,000 square foot facility it is today.
