Ditch Your Mower, Rethink Your Lawn

in San Leandro is inviting the public to a free drop-in class on how to easily convert your lawn into a Bay-Friendly garden April 14 from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

According the nursery, Bay-Friendly Qualified Landscape Designers will share examples of successful transitions to edible landscapes, wildlife habitats and urban retreats. All of the designers have extensive experience converting lawns into varied landscapes and can answer your questions about what comes next.

At the event you will be able to watch a hands-on demonstration of sheet mulching – an innovative technique that goes right over a lawn. Instructional materials and irrigation rebate information will also be provided.

Also included will be information on where you can purchase a "Plant Now or Plant Later" sheet mulch package to assist with lawn conversion.
