Community Birth Resources Mini Fair

Birth With Treesa, along with, Life With HarmonySacred Birth Angels Foundation, and Tri-Valley Natural Families bring you The Bay Area Birth Film Festival!! This will be an annual event, marking Birth Awareness Week, held at The Historic Bal Theatre 14808 East 14th Street San Leandro CA on September 20, 2012. www.bayareabirthfilmfestival.com

Freedom For Birth will be shown at 7pm.

"Freedom for Birth is more than just a film. It marks the beginning of a movement that will focus global attention on the violations of women's rights during childbirth all around the world…FREEDOM FOR BIRTH is part of One World Birth, a global documentary film project intended to be a catalyst to improve birth around the world. One World Birth is the brainchild of a filmmaking couple, Toni Harman and Alex Wakeford. The difficult birth 4 years ago of our daughter inspired [them] to use [their] skills as filmmakers to "save birth and change the world!”

BIRTH STORY will be shown at 8:15pm

“The feature-length documentary BIRTH STORY: Ina May Gaskin and The Farm Midwives tells the story of counterculture heroine Ina May Gaskin and her spirited friends, who began delivering each other’s babies in 1970…Today, as nearly one third of all US babies are born via C-section, she fights to preserve her community’s hard-won knowledge. With incredible access to the midwives’ archival video collection, the film not only captures the unique sisterhood at The Farm Clinic–from its heyday into the present–but shows childbirth the way most people have never seen it–unadorned, unabashed, and awe-inspiring.”

Theater Doors will open at 6pm, please join us for our birth resources fair.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.BalTheatre.com and cost $20 (+ service charge).  Ticket prices at the door will be $30.  There will be a discount offered at the door for teenagers.

THIS IS A BABY FRIENDLY EVENT - Anyone is welcome, and Breastfeeding is encouraged. Please be aware that both films will show graphic birth scenes.
