Ex-Felon Charged with Murdering San Leandro Man in July
The fatal shooting occurred in the 5900 block of East 17th Street at about 3:08 p.m. on July 23.

A six-time felon has been charged with murder for the shooting death of a 49-year-old man in East Oakland in July, authorities said. Gerald Gipson, 28, is being prosecuted for the fatal shooting of Timothy Wilson of San Leandro in the 5900 block of East 17th Street at about 3:08 p.m. on July 23.
Officers who responded to the shooting found Wilson suffering from gunshot wounds, police said. Emergency personnel responded and provided first aid but Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene. In addition to murder, Gipson is charged with first-degree automated teller machine robbery for allegedly robbing a woman at an ATM machine in Oakland on Sept. 25.
Gipson is also charged with two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm because prosecutors allege that he has six prior felony convictions. They say his prior convictions include three counts of possession of drugs for sale and one count each of second-degree burglary, attempted second-degree robbery and carrying a loaded firearm that was unregistered.
