Family Living In RV Displaced By San Leandro Fire

One adult, 2 kids, 2 dogs and 4 guinea pigs had to leave their RV.

SAN LEANDRO, CA — Four people living in a recreational vehicle are homeless following a fire Saturday afternoon in San Leandro, Alameda County Fire Department officials said.

At 2:56 p.m., firefighters went to the 2100 block of Marina Boulevard after someone called to report a fire.

Firefighters arrived to find a large column of smoke coming from a tree and flames impinging on a two-story apartment building.

Fire officials said the fire spread to three other backyards but crews kept it from damaging any occupied structures.

Firefighters rescued four guinea pigs and two dogs.

The American Red Cross is helping a family of four, one adult and three children, with temporary needs. The fire did not burn their RV but smoke and water damage made it uninhabitable.

Fire officials said the cause of the fire is undetermined.
