Fire at Mental Health Facility Contained to One Room
Fire crews were able to knock down the fire at the Villa Fairmont facility and helped mop up the water from the sprinkler activation.

A fire broke out in a room at a mental health facility outside San Leandro Tuesday evening, according to firefighters. Crews responded to the Villa Fairmont facility at 15200 Foothill Blvd. in unincorporated Alameda County for a one-alarm blaze at 7:01 p.m. They had the incident under control by 7:15 p.m., according to Alameda County Fire spokeswoman Aisha Knowles.
The fire was contained to just the one room with the help of a fire sprinkler and extinguished by firefighters - some of whom are still on the scene this evening assisting facility staff with water removal. The cause of the blaze is still under investigation, according to Knowles.
Two of the residents slept in other rooms for the night, but nobody was displaced by the fire.
