Firefighters Rescue Pets In Wednesday's Fire

SAN LEANDRO, CA — Alameda County firefighters report that two pets were rescued on Wednesday from a house fire in San Leandro. Needing the help of firefighters was Nina the Pug puppy and Carla the Parrot.

The residents were not at home when the fire started. A neighbor was injured trying to put out the fire with a garden hose before firefighters got there. He was treated at the scene.

The cause of the fire was an unattended candle.

The roll call for first responders was Alameda County Fire Department, San Leandro Police Department, City of San Leandro Building Department, Paramedics Plus and PG&E.
