Golfin' By the Bay
San Leandro plays host to the annual spring classic high-school golf tournament at Monarch Bay.
Under the blue skies of a beautiful spring day along the San Francisco Bay, 107 high-school golfers took to the links at San Leandro's . The 2011 Pirate Golf Tournament, held on Monday, drew students from 17 Bay Area schools.
Now in its 13th year, the tournament originally served as a showcase for the city's golf facilities. The tournament now serves as a fundraiser for's golf program, with each player paying a $10 green fee.
The par 71 Tony Lema course boasts 7,015 yards of playing area along the edge of the bay.
