iPhone 5 Release: Retail Hit Or Hype?

To paraphrase William Randolph Hearst, you send us the pictures, we'll send you the frenzy.

The iPhone 5 is being released in retail stores today to much hype and hoopla.

But when Patch reader Tim Holmes (an Apple-lover to the core) snapped this picture about an hour before this Verizon store opened, there wasn't much of a line.

Maybe the pent-up demand was satisfied by pre-orders?

If you're determined to go store-shopping today, here are pointers to some possible outlets.

But by all means, call ahead to make sure they have phones in stock.
