iServe Residential Lending sponsors The VA Financing National Tour
An Open Forum and Luncheon to Discuss the Benefits of the VA Home Program
San Leandro, CA - In the complex area of home mortgage, one local mortgage lender is taking the initiative to educate mortgage and real estate professionals on how to service local active military and veterans through the VA Home Loan Program. iServe Residential Lending , a leading national mortgage lender with a local branch in San Leandro, is sponsoring “The Power of VA Home Financing National Tour”. Next stop on the tour is The Marina Inn on San Francisco Bay, January 22 from 10 am to 12 pm.
Local resident Catalina Lopez, who works as Branch Manager for the iServe San Leandro Branch , finds that the VA Home Loan Program is one of the most important benefits available through the Department of Veterans Affairs. The benefit offers active duty, veterans, select reservists and members of the National Guard, an opportunity at home ownership.
“Unfortunately, the program is underutilized as approximately 8% of the people eligible for the benefit have taken advantage of the opportunity,” Lopez said.

Lopez points out that the program is often misunderstood or discouraged by many mortgage and real estate professionals. In addition, veterans themselves haven’t embraced the program due to previous experiences or a general misunderstanding of it.
“With the combined lack of knowledge from recipients of the program and industry professionals themselves, the VA Home Loan Program doesn’t get the recognition it deserves,” Lopez said.
