As Kneaded Bakery Opens Café Inside San Leandro Library

SAN LEANDRO, CA — An enticing new café has opened up inside the San Leandro Main Library.

As Kneaded Café opened in mid-February. Its owners had been looking to expand their business to a second location for a few years and "loved" the idea of serving librarygoers and embedding the business within a community asset.

"A café and the Library act in symbiosis — one nourishes the body while the other nourishes and engages the mind," according to the As Kneaded Café website. "The Café expands upon this existing mission by offering sit-down meal service to library-goers and encouraging new visitors to try our bakery just up the road."

The café offers multiple food options, including sandwoches, quiche, pastries, salads, coffee and tea. There are also seasonal drinks such as a lavender latte or a pineapple espresso tonic.

As Kneaded Café is open Monday, Friday and Saturday from 9 to 5 a.m. and Tuesday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The owner's bakery, meanwhile, offers a larger variety of pastries and loaves than can be found at the café. The bakery is located just a short drive from the café.
