Man Accidentally Fires Gun Into Floor Of His Upstairs Apartment
The bullet went into the downstairs neighbor's apartment in San Leandro.

SAN LEANDRO, CA — A San Leandro man who allegedly negligently fired a gun into his downstairs neighbor's apartment over the weekend was arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs packaged for sale, according to police.
Officers responded to the 100 block of Dutton Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Friday night after the downstairs neighbor called police to report that his ceiling had been damaged by gunfire.
Investigators determined that the upstairs neighbor, Minh Huynh, 29, had been handling a loaded firearm when the gun went off and the bullet went through the floor into the downstairs apartment.

Lt. Isaac Benabou said in a statement Tuesday that even when it's an accident, negligent discharge of a firearm is still a crime.
"There are no second chances if someone's inattention seriously injures or kills a person," Benabou said. "We are thankful in this case that no one was hurt."
